Cake Batter Pretzel Rods

Cake Batter Pretzel Rods by Heaven in a Dish -pretzel rods dipped in a white choc cake batter bark, the perfect sweet/salty combo!
So, my birthday's coming up soon, and I thought a good way to celebrate on here would be a week of cake batter.

This was a super great idea until I found out until I only have one box of cake mix. That is not enough to make a week's worth of desserts.

This recipe is perfect, because it only needed about a tablespoon of cake mix.

So, white chocolate and pretzels are pretty much a match made in heaven. I've been making lots of ugly little white chocolate covered pretzels, and they are so good. Despite the fact that I am horrible at dipping them. I have no idea how people can get them look so good.

Which is what sprinkles are for. They kind of cover up all the imperfections.

White chocolate pretzels are good on there own, but adding cake batter takes it up to a whole new level.

These are super easy, and if you like salty/sweet, cake batter, or white chocolate, then you are going to LOVE these!

3 stars ***
Ingredients:
  • 12 pretzel rods
  • 1 package white chocolate chips, 12 oz.
  • 2 tbsp yellow or funfetti cake mix
  • sprinkles
Directions:
  1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Set aside.
  2. Place white chocolate in a microwavable bowl. Microwave until melted, stirring every 30 seconds.
  3. Once the chocolate is smooth and melty, add the cake mix. Stir until there are no more lumps.
  4. Dip one pretzel rod into the chocolate, use a butter knife to spread the chocolate up the rod a little more than halfway. Twist the rod to let the excess chocolate drip off. Hold the pretzel over the wax paper and shake sprinkles on all over it.
  5. Place the pretzel on wax paper to dry (feel free to use a different sheet).
  6. Dip another pretzel in the white chocolate and sprinkles. Repeat the process until you have as many rods as you'd like. Let cool on wax paper.
Notes:
*test the white chocolate before dipping the pretzels to see how pronounced the cake batter flavor is. Add more cake mix for a stronger flavor.

So some of these photos turned out good and others turned out horrible. Let's just say that pretzel rods are hard to photograph.

These actually look really good in real life, so tempting that when I left them to cool I came back and found this.

I used to have a hard time making my dipped chocolate treats look pretty too. I found out that if you are using white chocolate chips, you need to add oil or shortening. It makes the melted chocolate thinner and easier to work with. Just 1 Tbsp of oil/melted shortening per cup of chocolate. Don't use butter or margarine, they have water and the chocolate will seize up and be a mess. Hope that helps!

    1. Thank you! Sometimes I've tried butter and it didn't work, so thanks for the tip!
